Courts Retail Unit, Stockport

The country’s leading furnishings and electrical specialist retailer occupies a new Pulmann designed building.

This new 20,000 square feet major retail unit was designed to accommodate one of the country’s leading furnishing and electrical specialists who wished to establish a presence in the centre of Stockport, Cheshire. Our client wished for the building to be designed along “traditional” lines echoing the large Victorian mill which previously occupied the site.

Smooth red facing brick diaphragm walls form the main structure with arched openings and a glass-wall entrance feature. Cast iron columns and beams from the old mill were carefully preserved and prefabricated to form a public art feature on the forecourt.
